Week 12, 13 &14

Long time no speak! We’ve been saving this post for exam time because what better procrastination is out there than reliving the Albion events of the past three weeks?

Week 12

Pub Crawl
Tuesday March 18th

PC

The shiny eyes say it all: the Pub Crawl was so much fun! Thank you AcCie for an awesome night out during which we could write on each other’s t-shirts (or arms, y’know, whichever the target preferred).

National Pub Quiz/Pub Quiz 3: Superheroes
Thursday March 20th

Was it just me, or are these getting more and more difficult? However, despite coming in almost last we still enjoyed ourselves. And we enjoyed answering questions to which we definitely did not know the answers way too much; let’s just say there were Spongebob references aplenty. Thanks again to the quizmasters of the night as well as the lovely GAG, Etcetera and Albion Leiden for travelling all the way to Utrecht to make this Pub Quiz a truly national event!

Week 13

Student/Docent aan het Woord
Wednesday March 26th

Student/docent aan het woord was quite an eye-opening event. Students and teacher from different fields of study talked about their thesis and research. There was this teacher from Spanish who was an expert in micro history, specifically  17th century Madrid. His job was reading reports and letters from petty criminals and police officers from that time, to gain an insight in the daily life. It was quite inspiring and hilarious. Even more hilarious was the research of Rahel, who did an MA intercultural communication after her BA English. Her thesis? Clashes in an American-coached Dutch lacrosse team. They were oblivious to all cultural differences, resulting in total chaos and mayhem. Lovely.

All the different accounts of what is possible within the studies of modern languages made this event not only entertaining, but informative as well. There’s so much you can do with a BA English, you just need to be a little bit creative.

Week 14

Monthly Drinks: Onesies & Pyjamas edition
Thursday April 3rd

Despite there being some issues with the date and the location, a lot of you turned up and we had a lovely evening. Special mention has to go to Bart, who  – without a doubt – owns the most epic onesie of all time:

There’ll be no events in week 15 due to you all being incredibly busy with exams, essays and theses. However, the Edinburgh trip leaves next Saturday so: Turas math dhuibh!
