Monthly Recap: October ’15

It seems only yesterday that I was running around like a crazy person trying to convince the people at Burgerzaken Utrecht to give me my driver’s license in the beginning of October. It’s been a month, however, and time has never moved so fast as the past 30 days. On the 7th, I found myself going on an adventure with Nick and Georgia-Rae, as we traveled all the way to Nijmegen to visit our sister association the Great Anglo-Saxon Gobblers, celebrate their constitution, drink a few free beers and perhaps steal the guestbook. I think that I can speak for us all when I say that Albion’s 25th Dies on October 9 was the highlight of this month if not this year. We had been looking forward to this for months and the day did not disappoint: the 24th board did an excellent job of putting together a wonderful program and with so many of your lovely people to celebrate Albion’s 25th Dies with us, the day was one of the best of my board year so far. The guest lectures by some of our favorite teachers, followed by a delicious meal at Le Connaisseur and the slightly chaotic but wonderful Pub Quiz made for a perfect day to celebrate everything and everyone Albion stands for. The drinks afterwards provided the perfect opportunity for a large-scale photoshoot and celebratory beers , hopefully you all have enjoyed the result of people who were slightly intoxicated trying to take pictures. In the end, the day wouldn’t have been as successful and fun without all of you there to celebrate our beloved association.

Things got more serious the week after as we suited up and attended the graduation ceremony for some of our favorite members who received their BA degrees. Needless to say that we are not only proud of them, but also slightly scared as it faced us with the harsh reality of having to study in order to get your degree. The preparations for deadlines and exams were around the corner and we got some of our studying done during the first Study Afternoon hosted by our lovely AcCie. The following day we discussed the progress of our lovely committees during the first Committee Meeting where your enthusiasm for the upcoming year made us all smile.

The Halloween activity, organized by the AcCie, closed the month of October and we had a few rounds of beer at Mick O’Connell’s to celebrate rounding up all of our deadlines and exams. November is a new month with new courses and new chances, but I’m pretty sure October won’t be quickly forgotten.

With love,

Nick, Georgia-Rae, Laurien, Niki and Maarten
